  1. Joanna,

I think this is a great start! For your activities section, you do a nice job of including your Tweets and Pins. I'd recommend adding more of the "why" you did some of theses activities, as opposed to simply talking about what you did. For example, as a reader I can see a definite evolution in terms of your social media promotion strategies over the course of the semester, like mentioning teammates in your tweets, use of hashtags, strong visuals, etc. Might be a good idea to include some information on why you added these to your tweets and pins!

    1. Hi-

Thank you for the suggestions. The why is so important. Also, to the average reader it will allow the story to become personalized which in turn can create future followers.
I am glad they you can see the evolution. That is what I was aiming for. Keep checking back, I will be making changes.
      Thank you,
      Joanna

    2. Joanna,

Just read through some of your updates - nice work! My only updated suggestion is to keep the discussion about page views and stats in your analysis section. You touch upon it a bit in activities, but if you keep it in analysis you can relate it back to your blog goals and discuss your progress over the semester in a way that relates to the stats you're reporting.

  2. Hi Joanna,

I think your outline is coming along great!

By utilizing short text blocks to explain your Twitter strategies and the intent behind them, along with those from Pinterest and Facebook, the reader will be able to really see how the process works by piecing the pictures and text together to create the whole story.

I like how you show the transition from your first tweet to your latest. These show how your social media skills have grown and progressed during this class. By showing some of the same things with Facebook, and Pinterest, the story will evolve into how you utilized the integration of all three.

As I know you are planning to post an updated version later in the week, I am eager to see how your outline progresses, because you have already begun with great success!

Was there specific areas of interest for you, that led to why you chose the design you created for your blog?

Also, were you influenced at all by the referral URL's or the traffic sources for your blog?

    Great start Joanna!

    1. Dawn,
Thank you. I approached this assignment as just what it is intended; a story; with a beginning, middle and end. So I thought the narraitive would be a nice touch. I still have to add more and add the creativity.

My blog design has changed I think 3 times. I wanted to go with something simple, not too distracting for the reader and focus on the content. Orange is usually not a color I gravitate to, but it seems to work here.

I was very surprised that Twitter was my top URL. I think this is because when you tweet, you can specify who you want to read it.

Moving forward, I feel that Twitter is my best platform to drive traffic to my blog.

Thanks again. Stay posted for the updates.

  3. Joanna,

I really like the layout of your Storify paper. It is clear, concise and visually pleasing. I like how you took a lighthearted approach to your paper and experiences with social media. Your comments about your first tweet and adding hashtags are great! It also shows your progression in this class and how well you have adapted to social media. I would have never guessed that you never used Twitter before! I also thought that you described your progression throughout class very well. You get a good sense of where you started and where you are now.

The only suggestion that I would make is adding a couple of images in the Introduction section so that the readers can get a better sense of who you are. The top part of your paper has a lot of text. The middle has a lot of great examples of your work. I would like to see more of that in the top half of your paper.

Overall, I think it is a great start and looks really professional!

    1. Travis,
Thank you. I was a bit worried about the lighthearted approach, but I think it is working. I still have to make adjustments. Thank you for the image suggestion. I am going to see what I can find and add them. I will keep everyone posted.

      Thanks again

  4. Hey Joanna!

Awesome start! I think you have a really good start and setup to your paper. My favorite part was when you brought us on a journey from your first tweet to your latest tweet. That was a great idea and really gave us a feeling of how you progressed through the class. Great idea!

I would suggest maybe adding a picture of your number of user site visitors. You could even pic the week you had the most visits and show each day that week so we can see how it progressed. Just an idea. I think you are definitely on the right track! Nice job!

Thank you for reading my story.I took a different approach to the story. It seems to be working well. I like the idea of utilizing a weekly picture of page views, I am going to work on that. Thank you for the suggestion.

      Keep checking back for updates.
      Thanks again,

  5. Hi Joanna,

I think your Storify is really taking shape! Your use of the tweet photos really shows your advancement in their usage for attracting readers. You also included a Facebook post. Will you be including anything about Pinterest? By showing all three, you can describe how one may have led to the other, which then led to your blog. Or even how one outperformed the others, which led you to utilize that leading platform more ... which I believe you said was Twitter.

Also, the pictures and data from the stats tool is great. How will you use this information to analyze your blogs success? Such as, was your blog read mostly from mobile devices, during the week, and browsers on the weekends. By piecing together what story the stats tells you will really show your blog readers that you pay attention to where from and when they go to your blog.

For your conclusion, it would be great if you can take that analysis and make a conclusion about the success of your strategy. Then, you can talk about those aspects of the strategy that may need improvement, and how to implement that.

    Excellent job Joanna!

    1. Dawn,
Thank you. Yes, I will be adding in Pinterest Posts. How can you segment the data from blogger stats into the categories you mentioned? I did not know you can do that.
I wanted to add my success and traffic number in my conclusion, but I was not sure if it should be in that part or in the analysis portion?
      Thank you,
      Joanna

    2. Hi Joanna,

By using the Blogger Stats tool, select days and then compare that info to see which ones were busiest, etc.

I would talk about your traffic numbers in the Analysis portion, following it up with the overall conclusion of what your analysis has told you. Where your strategy was strongest, where it needed improvement, how you will make these improvements, and how you can then transfer this new strategy to your job at BMW or with your jewelry business.

      Great job Joanna!

  6. Joanna,

Great start so far! You've incorporated the text very well. My first thought was also what Travis stated above, I think more images in the beginning of your post would help spruce it up a bit. I especially liked how used an example of how you've come to use Twitter for self promotion for selling your jewelry on the side. That was very creative and demonstrates how this class has already started to work to your benefit.

I also agree with Dawn on how you chronologically shared the progress of your tweeting. You showed a great example of how you used #, and @, but I think you should also explain how using them correctly helps deliver your tweet. Also, you mentioned how you taught yourself to selectively control sharing your tweets on Facebook. I think you could expand a little more here, since we didn't really learn this from the text. Overall, great work!

    1. Nicole,
Thank you. I am going to work on getting a few more images in the beginning. I think by adding in and knowing how and to whom to add the @ & # is key to successfully making Twitter work for you. I will work on adding in an explanation of the selective tweets to Facebook. Great suggestions. Thank you. Keep checking for updates.
      Thanks again,

  7. Joanna,

Great quote in the beginning of the plans section. It really does a good job of emphasizing the importance of social media in communication. You also have set some good goals. Looking to improve your skills and increasing views are good things to strive for. Do you feel that there are any specific measurements of these goals you would like to hit?

You also made a great use of links and pictures throughout to support your points. I liked the section that showed your tweets throughout the class. You also did a good job of going through the analysis week by week. Were there any weeks in particular where you feel you could have promoted the blog differently and achieved better results in terms of views and followers?

    Great Post!

  8. Ian,
Thank you for viewing guy story. I feel that in week 6 (my digital leader week) I could have promoted my teams blogs better so they could achieve higher page views and comments.
While I was active on all platforms, I feel I could have made a stronger presence by my teaser tweets, pins and Facebook post, more attention grabbing. Possibly asking questions to the group or picking up an interesting fact about the post to gain attention. I also feel my email presence should have been greater to Group A.

To reach the goals I get for my blog I really feel that being active across all platforms is crucial, including email. The topic title must be attention grabbing and truthful. The area I would like to focus on if followers, while my number is low, my comments and page views are in line with my goals. That tells me that those following me are interested to what I am discussing. Now, I just have to gather all my page viewers and turn them into followers. As I become proficient in social media analysis, I would like to utilize Goole Analytics, this program seems more specific in terms of where and who your traffic is. Its a more precise way be perform your analysis.

    Thank you,
    Joanna
